Hi, I'm

Growing up, I saw my dad create financial freedom for our family by building multiple businesses from scratch.

He taught me the power entrepreneurship has to change lives for the better. Like the time I locked myself out of the house in the middle of the day. My friends’ parents were at work, but all it took for me was one phone call: “Dad, I’m locked out. Can you come get me?”

My mom was a volunteer gal. I remember as a teen being in awe of her unending willingness to support our community. She helped children’s groups, volunteered at church, and was the nationwide director for a faith-based program for girls. She taught me to have a servant heart and the importance of leading from the front.

These are the values I try to instill in everything I do.

People often ask me

“What inspired you to leave your cushy
corporate job and start your own business?”

Here’s a little sneak peek of my story.

As a 4th generation entrepreneur

I have always wanted my own business. But I wasn’t blind to the challenges owners face.

It was my Dad who showed me first-hand how to be a business owner. You see, he did well and I learned so much from him… But I also saw him struggle. Struggle with obtaining clients, struggle with his legal, struggle with knowing how to not trade ALL his time for money.

Because of that – my journey to business ownership has been anything but traditional.

In 2012, I decided to go back to school for a third degree in law and start my third career, after working as a Television News Reporter and an IRS employee.

Out of law school, I dove head on into litigation and trial work. Much of my time early on was spent defending small businesses for a medium-sized law firm. Not just with my dad, but there I also saw first-hand that failure to plan ahead leads to increased stress, lack of clarity in your marketing, and most of all – nearly impossible to defend yourself if you get sued.

Following what everyone around me said was the “right choice”, I joined a large AMLaw 200 nationwide law firm in 2018 where I primarily worked complex commercial litigation and bad faith/insurance coverage disputes for large corporations and insurance companies.

This was nothing short of soul-sucking for me though.

Then 2020 COVID happened….

Courts were shut down. Litigation and trials just… stopped. And my “Big Law” work was at a standstill.

But something miraculous occurred – friends started approaching me looking for help to start
(or grow) their new business.

Since I was not busy with my trial practice, I started helping small businesses form strong legal foundations, getting their contracts and legal documents prepared, and, essentially, becoming their “outside” in-house counsel, partnering with them throughout each stage of their business. I did this holistically, looking at the full business, not just that specific legal need at that time.

Doing this work was fulfilling and meaningful.

I was determined to serve my clients differently than I had seen before.

That led me to want more than just my business administration degree to fully understand my clients. I worked hard to get a certificate through the Association of Accredited Small Businesses Consultants (AASBC). This naturally led to opening my second company, Bound for Destiny Consulting, where I provide strategic profit planning for new and emerging female business owners to help them past their initial “foundational” pieces.

Today, I take my hard-earned experience running multiple businesses and working with some of the largest companies in the world and translate that into innovative, holistic business consulting services.

In a world of unregulated online consulting, I am dedicated to providing data based, accredited, profit-driven coaching and mentoring with my AASBC certification to new and emerging small businesses.

My goal is to empower these businesses to thrive, contributing positively to our KC community and beyond.
